yes there's probably extra cost to the airline in placing a surfboard bag on their plan due to the extra weight and length of the bag. however, a single or double shortboard bag can not be heavier than a golf bag. why then are we charged when golfers are not? airlines need to be consistent across all customers and stop discriminating surfers. either charge golfers, skiers, snowboarders, etc or don't charge surfers. Pick an option.
